The drama festival for our group was held on the last night of camp. Like the song festival, all the practice was a little tedious, but seeing how cute the final performances were made it all worth it. Luckily, we got our MC duties over with during the Song Festival, so all we had to do was be judges. Some teachers had to help coordinate the students entering and exiting the stage and some were in charge of keeping the students quiet, so judging wasn't a bad position. All we had to do was sit in the first row and watch. The only draw back was that Judy's class sat in the row directly behind us, so they tried to peer over our shoulders to check the scores after each performance. Judy's class, Orion, performed a wonderful little play called, "Pigs, Wolves and Cheese." This was a Korean adaptation of The Three Little Pigs. This included 10 pigs, a house made out of cheese, one out of paper and the wolves said they would "destroy" the houses rather than huffing and puffing.
The winner of Best of all, Pegasus, did a gender swapping version of Cinderella. Korean adults and children alike find few things funnier than a man in women's clothing.
Avatar's first ever onstage adaptation written by Emily and performed by Aquarius.
Scorpius performed The Ants and Grasshoppers, this was a multiplied, ESL version of the Ant and the Grasshopper to give everyone a part.
Repeat performance of She'll be Coming Round the Mountain. This 'move' was during the 'she'll be riding six white horses' part and the girls would swing their arms in lasso motion. Wildly inappropriate, yes, but this kind of stuff flies in South Korea!
