Tokyo, Japan! - Arrival and Wandering Day 1

In the Busan Airport, waiting to board...

Boarding should begin any minute now!

What better place for gold hi-tops than Tokyo?

Apparently Andrew wasn't alone on the gold shoe idea...

Waiting for the misses
(like usual!)

Underground, waiting for the Narita Express

The snack cart on the train with Coca-cola in aluminum bottles!

So close to being there...

Tokyo!!! The view from our hotel room

Tokyo is HUGE.

In the elevator, heading out to explore...

Old couples are cute everywhere

The parking penguin

A Toyota Alphard!

Some Japanese dude

The first (of many) self-timer shots in Japan!

Guh-ross!

Ahhhhhh, Ninjas!

Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit and friends seem to have moved from the forest, and are now living at Plateau 302.

Lost

Coolest driveway ever

Kimono number 1!

Grocery store sushi snack

Still lost...
We had no clue where we were for most of the day.

Lunchtime!

Our first Yakitori experience.
If you're ever in Japan, you have to try the chicken meatballs!

The streets of Rappongi

All of a sudden, we turned for the quiet street we were on and were surrounded by a crowd. There was security everywhere and many were people dressed in suits and dresses. We didn't know what was going on.

A few minutes later we discovered that it was the Inception premier...

The women in the crowed chanted, "Leo, Leo, Leo..."
(pronounced Lay-Oh, Lay-Oh, Lay-Oh!)

Us with Leonardo DiCaprio!

OMG! We're so close to Jack Dawson!

The Eiffel Tower

For dinner that night, we set out in search of a crowded and/or cool looking izakaya (Japanese pub), but instead we stumbled upon Kitchen 5. We had no idea what kind of food it even was,
but it was packed and looked interesting, so we went in.

The place was awesome. It only had a wine menu, so after we chose a wine, the chef/owner gave us a walk through of all the foods available that night. The counter by the kitchen was covered with all sorts of European, North African and Middle Eastern dishes, so she went through and explained them one by one. All of them sounded amazing. We ended up only choosing a few pinchos (Spanish tapas) and telling her to choose the rest for us. That is never a decision we regret!
The chef explaining all the food to us.

She was not happy when Andrew took this
picture,
so this is the only one we have.
