Jukumi

Hands down, the restaurant we visit most frequently is Jukumi. Since Judy's co-teacher introduced us to the place last fall, we've eaten it almost weekly. The restaurant is always packed and has one dish on the menu, Jukumi. Jukumi is a dish consisting of baby octopus, mushrooms and bean sprouts sauteed at the table in an extremely spicy sauce. It leaves your lips and mouth burning and your nose running, but it is so delicious! And, like clockwork almost, the next morning you experience what we lovingly refer to as a 'Jukumi Explosion,' which is so cleansing it's therapeutic.

surrounded by all the side dishes

It does not look delicious here, but we promise it is!

It helps when you're cooking to have your tongue out...

After it's cooked, you use the tongs and
scissors to cut it into bite size pieces

When it turns soupy like this, it's ready to be eaten!
You can eat it right off the grill with a spoon or chopsticks, or...

...you can wrap it in a leaf of your choice with other things. This is how Andrew does it: Sesame leaf, sheet of seaweed, slice of radish, octopus, bean sprouts and onion.

Judy style: Piece of lettuce, slice of radish, octopus, bean sprouts and sauce

Hey there cute lil guy, get in my belly!

At this point, when all the octopus is gone, you have the option to have rice fried in the remaining sauce. It is mighty delicious, but sadly we're usually too full to order it.
