Shanghai - Suzhou

Shanghai was an awesome city, but we also wanted to get a little taste of China outside of the city. We did a little research, and picked Suzhou as our destination. From what we read, it was a smaller, more traditional canal city filled with gardens that was a short train ride away from Shanghai. Like most everything we read, this ended up being both true and false...
Who the hell is Kerry Everbright?

Sweet luggage, dude!

How many waiting rooms can one train station need?

Smootchie Smootchie

We're in there somewhere

Sweet Chinese home

Think: Petey from Dumb & Dumber

Guess what?
Chicken butt!

Hello friend...

OK, everyone turn your fire off!

Self-timers!

The girl in the striped shirt wanted to take a picture with us, so naturally we took one with them.

Then they took one for us.

More self-timers

Spooooky...

It's hard to see, but all three of us are in there somewhere

Beautiful

The guy in the plaid looked exactly like James Lipton!

His dust pan is fashioned from an industrial can of soy sauce

Apparently, all those restaurants that came before this one did not serve nice food...

You wanna go where everybody knows your name...

It looks a lot prettier than it smelled

God Bless America!

No bicycle rickshaws

This one also smelled terrible

Lunch!

You know it's clean when it's shrink wrapped, right?

No clue what this was, but it was pretty delicious
(minus the bones)

A not-so-good tofu and soy side dish

Mmmm, hanging meat

The KFC short bus!

KFC dominates the fast food market in China

No idea what animal these might have come from

KFC home delivery electric bicycles

A KFC beef wrap
(At Taco Bell this is known as a Crunch Wrap Supreme)

Not good! The beef was canned dog food quality meat. Why, at Kentucky Fried Chicken, would they use beef in this? It was the only non-chicken item on the menu...

Trying to get a taxi outside of a taxi stand in Suzhou is very difficult. You can't stand on the side walk and hail them because between the road and the sidewalk there are bike lanes and bus lanes. We thought we solved the dilemma by standing in this scary painted median between the bus lane and the street. After only a few minutes, a taxi came. Success!

Or so we thought... Once the taxi pulled over, this woman ran out of it with her baby so that she could hold her pantless child while it shit on the road. When the baby was done, she shook her child clean, hopped back into the cab and left.

The train squeegeer

Either the bugs in China are huge, or our train hit a bird...
