The beef tasted like a delicious pot roast, but somehow the vegetables tasted exactly the way horse poop smells! It was actually really incredible/mind boggling how similar the taste was to a flavor you come across in a barn.
After Des Lys, we headed to a restaurant we read about in the Lonely Planet that serves fried scorpion. Both Andrew and Korey were really excited for this, but a few minutes after we ordered it, the waitress returned to tell us they didn't have any left. We're not sure if they were out of scorpions because it was such a popular dish or because no one ever orders them, but either way it was sad.
When we first arrived, the place seemed a little strange, but we couldn't quite put our finger on what was strange about it at first. A little while after being there, we figured it out: the place was full of HUGE European dudes! The average height in the room was probably 6'3. It was crazy. Andrew has never really felt short before, and he certainly never imagined that would happen at a bar in China...

There were some really amazing dance moves going on inside this place. We wanted to watch the live music, but it was hard to take our eyes off the wasted people dancing.
Due to a mix-up with our tickets, we ended up getting our seats up graded to the center of the front row. That was awesome to be that close to some of the acts, but for others it definitely made it much more uncomfortable. The motorcycle cage/grand finale was one of those acts. We were seated probably 40 feet from the cage, inhaling exhaust and growing increasingly uncomfortable as they kept adding motorcycles to the mix. By the end there were 7 motorcycles driving around in there at once. It was awful.
After the show we went to yet another jazz club. The amount of live music nightly in Shanghai is staggering. Almost every bar we went into had a stage area and a band. Five straight nights of live music was awesome!
What kind of camera did you use to take these pictures? They're great!
